In my previous article, we looked at the importance of search engine optimization or SEO, on your website. In this article I want to focus on another very important aspect of your online business -- that of niche advertising, and how to find hot niches for your site.

For starters, a niche is an unfulfilled demand for a "product". Now the term products here need not be a physical product. It can be a service or even information. I should also mention here that even though a particular product may be in very high demand, it is still possible to find unchartered territory, or hot niches within that product. The challenge here is of course to find the hot niche you are looking for. Google has a free Keyword Tool that can be helpful with this. This tool however has its limitations. For really good niche advertising, I have used with great success and would like to recommend to you, Micro Niche Finder. Let us say that you have a passion for crystal ware and would like to set up site on this, then using this software, you can enter the search tern crystal ware. Micro Niche Finder will return all the search term it can find that involve the keyword(s) you have entered. You can then do other queries that will tell you how competitive any given search term is. For more on this really powerful tool, please see my review on it.

There is a little trick that I use when ever I am investigating tools to use for my online promotion - in this case, niche advertising. If someone is promoting a tool or a system that they have developed to promote your online business, and they profess that this tool is so great, then they must be their own greatest client. They must be using this tool themselves to promote their own site. If their tool helps you find a niche market, then they must be using it to find hot niches themselves. And if it is good as they say it is, then their site must have a good rating on Alexa. This is a website that tells you just how popular any site on the internet is. The most popular website will be at position #1. If the site promoting this tool or traffic generating system is lower than 100, 000, or if their Alexa rating is higher that 100,000, then I will not take them seriously. Take a look at the Alexa Rating for Micro Niche Finder. This will give you an idea why I highly recommend this tool. But I will discuss this in more detain in my review of the product.

In starting your online business, the ability to find a niche market is a critical first step - that is unless you plan to pay for your online advertising. Without first finding a hot niche will be like stepping into a ring with heavy weight boxer; you have no gloves and your hands are tied. With good niche advertising, you can find niche markets for your product(s), and gain what may seem to be an unfair advantage on your competitors. You will have first hand knowledge on your market. All that will be left then to do is to write really good and compelling articles on your hot niche - then $$$... you'll be smiling all the way to the bank.

Cheers.

OK. So you are thinking of starting your own business online and you have decided to have a blog that gives people some good information, but this doesn't do a lot of good if they cannot find your blog. Even though you are setting up an online business, normal business principles still apply. One such principle is that of being found or advertising your business.

For people to find the blog – your online business - that you have worked so hard on, you must have good Search Engine Optimization, or SEO on it. This should be your primary means of online advertising, and is the use of specific keywords or phrases in your posts that you expect web surfers to find your post.

A well optimized post on your blog can be rank really well with search engines and will therefore be easily found by surfers who use their favourite search engine - be it Google, yahoo, msn, search or any other search engine. They will enter a keyword or phrase within the search area, and when they press enter, all the articles that have been indexed by that search engine will be displayed. Those that are displayed within the first two page views of the search results are the ones that will most likely be seen and visited by surfers. Your goal should therefore be to get your posts within the first two pages of search engines, especially the major ones like Google, and Search Engine Optimization, or SEO plays an important part in this.

For example, if your blog is about muscle toning, then you should ensure that your blog focuses on this topic and that each post includes popular terms relevant to muscle toning such as muscle toning, toning muscles, muscle toning exercises, etc.

You will have to do some research and think about the things that people look for who are interested in muscle toning. You should also do some research on how much competition there is for each keyword or phrase you are thinking of using. It will be a lot more difficult to rank well with highly competitive search terms. If however, you focus on the less competitive search terms, and build your blog around these initially, then after you blog has been established, it can be possible to rank well even with the highly competitive search terms. There are tools that can help with this.

As you press on with your blog, keep in mind that Search Engine Optimization should be your primary means of online advertising for your blog – your business. There are other important aspects of online advertising such choosing the right keywords and keyword density, that we will look at in other posts.

In case this may all seem to be a bit much for you, or you're just anxious to get on with it, SBI or Site Build It is an all inclusive, fantastic tool that will guide you through every single step in creating your website - including that of Search Engine Optimization and finding niche markets. One of the really great things about SBI is that it assumes you know nothing about setting up a website. That makes it an ideal tool for newbies. I must warn you though that SBI is no "get rich quick" scheme; nor is it a system that promises maximum return for little or no work. Personally, if I were you, I'd stay away from such empty promises 'cause that's all they are - empty promises that will empty your pocket.

SBI does however promise that if you follow their proven steps that guide you from just having an idea to creating your own successful online business, then you will join the hundreds of successful SBI'ers singing the SBI song.

What’s Required for Website Content Writing
Writing content for a website takes orientation and planning. Being fully
oriented to the purpose of the website and its goals is the first step to
website content writing. Outline the chief purpose of the website in priority
order. Then, do the same for the goals intended for the website. The most
important aspect of the process is website traffic. Knowing what makes a
specific website highly attractive to impulse visitors as well as those with a
more vested interest in the website purpose is key to planning. Reverse roles in
the planning process to understand what will increase website traffic.
Developing a website with maximum potential is a matter of marketability. Does
the website address marketability? This is the underlying factor in the success
or failure of any website.

Content Is Everything
When writing website content, thoughts must be clear and organized. Using the 5
questions all journalists ask when producing a feature article, “Who, What,
When, Where and Why” will help plug any holes in the content’s goal. A website
with too much text is tiring and doesn’t fill the requirement for attracting a
higher percent of traffic. Offering a respite from reading and including graphs
adds appeal. This is all part of good website content. A website should have a
unique selling potential in order to generate traffic. The more technical a
website is in nature, the more it’s necessary to relieve the fatigue of the
topics.

What is Good Content?
Good content doesn’t just happen. It has to be planned. Break content down into
the five areas so that “Who” is a drawing card in equal status with “What”,
“When”, “Where” and “Why”. Then, tie all of these elements together to channel
the main focus of the content so it’s compatible with the purpose. Good content
must always be informative. That’s where the source of appeal occurs. Good
content should not overwhelm to the point of alienating potential traffic. If
the content is good, traffic by referral will double. If the content author
doesn’t understand the intent, visitors to the site won’t either. Website
content is two-way communication between the content author and the
reader/visitor.

Website Content Writing For Success
Website
content writing successfully is a simple matter of focus. The content should
remain focused throughout. Diverting to unnecessary levels is confusing. Choose
a unique focus and stick with it. Write “for” the audience, not “at” it.
